‘Rot’ by Julienne Harvey is a raw depiction of how thoughts can cycle endlessly when experiencing dark times. The song represents the inner monologue of Julienne’s personal experience of a psychiatric emergency and shares the energy present in that time. The build in the song creates an overwhelming climax of mixed emotions, which progresses to display the feeling of loneliness in the chaos. The writing and Production of ‘rot’ has been used as a healing process for Julienne herself, and she hopes that the vulnerability of her music can help others to not feel so alone.
